Art Deco 1920s blue glass chandelier

Starting life during the glitz and glamour of 1920s former Czechoslovakia, this one-off Art Deco chandelier once adorned a hotel lobby in Prague. A striking design with unusual blue-tinted glass, the three globes provide a soft glow when illuminated, supported by curved chrome-plated arms. The decorative central baluster and rod feature a storied patina indicative of its rich 100-year history. A true statement piece for entrance ways and living spaces.

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

The restoration process our vintage lighting goes through can take many months. First, we gently disassemble each light fitting allowing us to spot any flaws and plan how best to bring it up to modern electrical standards. Our team of experts then patiently restore each component by hand. The finished result is a meticulously restored vintage light that is ready for use for decades more to come.
