Equire about this product

Origin: Czechoslovakia (former)

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

Originally set up in 1933 producing optical lenses, Meopta quickly expanded producing products like enlargers, cameras and binoculars, becoming one of the world's major manufacturers of cinema projectors between 1947 and 1970. Comprising a black aluminium enclosure the wall lights feature the original convex lens, as well as the manufacturer’s detailing and logo embossed on the front of the lamp.
