Period 1950s Czech glass pendant lights featuring an interesting concave shade profile and an open-bottomed design. The matt opal glass provides an even diffusion of light when illuminated.

Much of the lighting we salvage and restore from the former Eastern Bloc was produced in the manufacturing powerhouses of former Czechoslovakia. Under Communist rule the same design was often manufactured in three scaled versions to cater for varying bulb wattage. The country is also famed for its beautiful glassware, with both wall and ceiling opaline glass lights often being used in public and residential settings, such as housing blocks and schools.

Restoration

In the mid 20th century, lights were designed with care and made to last. We respect and preserve the heritage of each piece. Every light we reclaim has two tales to tell - its original use, and how it came to be salvaged.

Each light is supplied with a new screw (E27) lamp holder, 2mtrs of suspension chain, traditional silver braided cable and ceiling mounting plate. (If you would prefer another colour cable or wire suspension, please just ask).
